ABC Baby Book (A-C)

After seeing my alpha animal pages, my dear pregnant sis began hinting that an ABC book would make a lovely gift for a new mama. I found some bright papers and a matching set of stickers and embarked on a rather large baby book project. I had to buy a set of refill pages and figured, what the heck, why not include the numbers 1-10 too.

The main set of paper and the chipboard stickers come from K&Co, the pattern name is 'Wild Saffron'. I mixed in some plain paper and misc embellishments along the way. (The always adorable, busy as a bee and cute as a button stickers all came from the K&Co set. They are so, so cute!)

Alpha Animal Pages #3

The next pages that are finished up are the G and L. I've been working in no particular order and don't believe I'll make a page for every letter, but that's OK. Hey, it's my scrapbook and I can make my own rules!

I've given myself the challenge of using up existing items while working on these alpha pages. The G went a little overboard...I cut up tiny little bits of leftover rub-on alphas and rubbed them on the border of the G for faux stitching. I was listening to a really good Stephanie Plum audio novel and hardly noticed that I spent a good half hour on one silly letter.

Alpha Animal Pages #2

Here are a couple more pages from my Alpha Animal series. I've pretty much stuck with the same basic layout for each page. The scraps in my scrap album dictate what sort of word/animal area I end up with. For the B and E I had some misc. rub-ons to use up. I got a little creative making my own l and h on the Elephant page, but I just had to use those old alphas up. I even used dots from all the left over punctuation marks to create a dotted border on the bird background.

On the word lines for these two pages, I added some embellishing with my giant stapler and some eyelets that were lying around. In fact, the tan squares and orange frame on the Elephant page were scraps too. What a deal, if I can clear out more of my old stash, I can buy something NEW!!

Alpha Animal Pages

I came across these little puffy animal stickers a while ago and just had to buy them. (I think they might be SandyLion designs?) I had no particular use in mind and they've been sitting all lonely in the cupboard for months. I finally came up with an idea for several pages - combining these stickers along with some leftover grungeboard letters. Adding the stickers in this way makes the page more versatile, they don't need to coordinate with 'zoo' pictures or anything, I think they're just a nice backdrop for everyday photos.

Here's the A - alligator page.

12 x 12" background
10 x 10" green background frame
(3) 4.5" square frames - green
3.5" square frame - white
Scrap paper, stamps, thread

To start, I used a glue stick to cover the grungeboard letter. Using the little Close to My Heart sanding files, I could sand in the center and around the edges to distress it. Next up I added some vines with green thread and topped the white square with the alligator and leaf stickers. I stamped three "A" words on scrap paper and trimmed around each word. Next - everything got inked. I'm sure this is Walnut Stain from Tim Holtz' line. Last step, adhere it all down and add pictures!
